Frida Kahlo: Through the Lens of Nickolas Muray
Fifty color and black-and-white portraits offer an intimate look at Mexico’s most prolific and well-known female artist, Frida Kahlo. Curator of Latin American Art, Ann Seiferle-Valencia, Ph.D. will give insights into this special and exciting exhibition. Rick Paz, Fleming’s Manager/Sommelier, offers four wines from Flemings renowned cellar and appropriate “bites”.

Tesoros del Pueblo: Latin American Folk Art or "Treasures of the People", showcases the variety, imagination, and artistry of Latin American folk art. Drawn largely from the Museum’s Latin American art collection, many objects have never before been displayed. Latin American Curator, Ann Seiferle-Valencia, Ph. D. who specializes in Pre-Colombian material culture will be your expert guide to this exhibition. Participants will sample “Wines from Around the World” from France, New Zealand and other countries with Certified Wine Specialists, Jessica Nenadic and Jennifer Tritle of Alliance Beverage Distributing Co. Lodge on the Desert’s Chef Ryan Clark will provide tasty accompaniments.

Han and Beyond - The Renaissance of China: The James Conley Collection. More than 100 artworks from the Neolithic period (ca. 3,000 BC) to Qing Dynasty (1644 – 1911) present a rare opportunity to view remarkable objects drawn from almost five thousand years of China’s creative inspiration. Experience what is fueling the world-wide excitement over Chinese art and breaking records at auction houses this fall. Joan Cserpnak, TMA docent extraordinaire and Chairwoman of the Asian Study Group who researched pieces for the exhibition will be our tour guide. The experience will feature delectable sensations from Pei Wei Asian Diner as Mses. Nenadic and Tritle give us the opportunity to sample Asian plum wine, sake, liqueur and lager.

Seminars are at 3:00 pm and are $50 ($30 tax deductible) each or all three for $140 ($80 tax deductible). These events sold out last year.
