Engage the mind and imagination of your students while they experience works of art and architecture in a museum setting. The Museum offers a variety of programs for students to learn about art, history and culture. Whether it is a docent-led tour complete with hands-on art project or a self-guided tour of a special exhibition and a selection of the permanent collection, students will have the opportunity to explore one of Tucson’s treasures.
The hallmark of the Museum’s K-12 programs is the school tour program and its interactive approach which aims to make meaningful connections between art and audiences. Visits to the Museum inspire students to engage with the dynamism of ancient through contemporary culture while developing their visual literacy skills. Tours promote self-expression and individual perspectives through observation, analysis and evaluation. Moreover tours complement school curricula and promote the critical thinking skills necessary to meet all academic Arizona State Standards.

Workshops for Teachers
Join the Museum’s professional development workshops for K-12 educators offered 2 – 4 times throughout the year. This is a great opportunity for teachers in all disciplines to explore current exhibitions; design interdisciplinary curricula in collaboration with their peers; meet artists, scholars, and writers; and develop an individual relationship with the arts. Everyone who attends will walk away with strategies and materials that can be used in the classroom. Please contact the Education department at Education (at) TucsonMuseumofArt.org for a schedule of upcoming workshops or visit the calendar page.
The Museum offers several art lessons for children in grades 1 – 8 in the classroom and presented by docents. Art concepts range from studying the elements of art and color theory to learning about the art historical masters like Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet. Registrations must be received by November 1.
