The Tucson Museum of Art is proud to continue its tradition of offering art instruction of the finest quality to people of all ages. Classes in a variety of artistic media are presented including ceramics at the historic Romero House and classes led by Tucson’s most popular watercolor instructor – Chris Larson. Each summer, hundreds of children attend the Summer Art Camp for an intensive yet fun study of the Museum’s collections, exhibitions, art materials, and techniques each week.
The Ceramics Studio offers students the opportunity to gain experience and professional skills in ceramics and clay sculpture from some of Tucson’s finest teaching artists. For more than 35 years, the Museum has offered adult classes in ceramics and its studio has both electric and gas firing kilns.
Ceramics Studio students also benefit from small class sizes and gain inspiration from the works on view at the Museum. By looking and engaging with the exhibitions and permanent collection, creativity flows through the classrooms. Students learn techniques and skills which improve confidence, while being inspired by their peers. Nearly 18 hours/week of open-studio hours are offered at no additional cost.

Watercolor Lessons with Chris Larson
The continued popularity of this watercolor class has made it a highlight in the Museum’s long history of studio classes for adults. Each fall and spring since the mid-1970s, Chris has led intermediate and advanced painting students to scenic spots throughout Tucson to paint our beautiful desert scenes.
