Vistas of the Frontera: Cesar Martinez

A year long series dedicated to exhibiting the works of six artists of Latino/a and Chicano/a heritage, who currently work and live in the southwestern United States.
A native of Laredo, Texas, this celebrated painter and printmaker is widely recognized for his exploration of personal and ethnic identity. His imagery is most often derived from reconstructed memories, which once recalled, are reconstructed into the cultural icons that recall his youth in South Texas. His portraits of Pachucos, Rucas, and Batos reveal the layered memories existing within the heart and soul of the Chicano identity.
