Tucson Museum of Art Exhibiting the Arizona Doodle 4 Google 2012 finalists

August 17 / 2012

Tucson, AZ – May 4, 2012 – Tucson Museum of Art today announced that it will exhibit the Arizona Doodle 4 Google 2012 finalists June 1 – August 31, 2012.  Entries were submitted from all across Arizona and these finalists represent the top submissions in each age group.

TMA’s Executive Director, Robert Knight commented, “We are honored to be chosen as the only Museum in the state to participate in this exciting contest and exhibition.  Art takes on many forms, and doodles are the beginning of what can turn into a masterpiece.  Many famous artists including, Paul Cezanne, Keith Haring, and Pablo Picasso created famous sketches and doodles!  The Tucson Museum of Art welcomes this exhibition in our Creative Space for Kids; a special area in the Museum devoted to budding young artists.”

Doodle 4 Google is one of several efforts by Google to encourage and celebrate the creativity of young people by asking students to create their own Google doodle.  The theme this year was “If I could travel in time, I’d visit…” Doodle 4 Google gives students a blank canvas to harness their curiosity and imagine the past, present, and/or future anywhere in the world. The doodles were judged by a team of Googlers and then guest judges — such as Katy Perry, Phineas and Ferb creator and executive producer Jeff “Swampy” Marsh, and recording artist Jordin Sparks — helped choose the top doodles.
