Visit the museum on Second SundAZe: Family Day @ TMA in February to explore the galleries, create your own works of art, and enjoy performances by Mariachi Las Aguilitas<\/a> y Red Herring Puppets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Art-Making<\/strong>

\n\u2022 Make your own finger puppet- Using felt along with a variety of materials to create your own finger puppet.
\n\u2022 Cut paper- Use construction paper or tissue paper to cut elaborate designs.<\/p>\n

Mariachi Las Aguilitas<\/strong>
\nMooney Hall, 11 a.m.
\nEnjoy a performance by Mariachi Las Aguilitas de Davis Bilingual Elementary School. Mariachi Las Aguilitas is a K-5 grade mariachi group that has existed for over 30 years in Tucson, Arizona.<\/p>\n

Red Herring Puppets present The Friendly Chupacabra<\/strong>
\nBonnie Bradford Courtyard 1p.m.
\nRed Herring Puppets present The Friendly Chupacabra \/ El Chupacabra Amigable, a bilingual puppet performance based on tales from Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. This legendary creature invokes fear and wonder, but in our telling, a brave girl and her goat tame the lonely beast with friendship. The show features a colorful scrolling backdrop, hand-crafted puppets, and original music and vocals by members of Tucson\u2019s Las Azaleas mariachi band. The show is funded in part by the Jim Henson Foundation and the Arts Foundation of Tucson and Southern Arizona.<\/p>\n

Red Herring Puppets, have toured nationally for many years. They\u2019ve been featured at the Center for Puppetry Arts in Atlanta, NYC\u2019s International Puppet Fringe Festival, Boston\u2019s Puppet Showplace, Cleveland\u2019s Maltz Museum, Open Eye Theatre in Minneapolis, and The Great Arizona Puppet Theatre in Phoenix. Their work has earned a California Emmy, a Telly Award, and an UNIMA Citation of Excellence, the highest honor in American puppetry. Red Herring is an Artistic Associate at Tucson\u2019s Scoundrel and Scamp Theatre.<\/p>\n
