Truth, Beauty and Goodness: the Classical Virtues in Art \/<\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

In this talk, we will look at how they have been expressed in the Art of three especially relevant time periods. First, with art from Greek antiquity, when these classical virtues were first expressed by Plato and Aristotle. Second, with art from the Renaissance, when these classical virtues were rediscovered after nearly being lost during the Dark Ages of Europe following the collapse of the Roman empire. Finally, with an examination of how contemporary artists are renewing and reframing these classical virtues in their work.<\/p>\n Las virtudes cl\u00e1sicas \u2014la verdad, la belleza y la bondad\u2014 tienen profundas ra\u00edces en la tradici\u00f3n de la civilizaci\u00f3n occidental. En esta charla, analizaremos c\u00f3mo se han expresado en el arte de tres per\u00edodos especialmente relevantes. En primer lugar, con el arte de la Antig\u00fcedad Griega, cuando estas virtudes cl\u00e1sicas fueron expresadas por primera vez por Plat\u00f3n y Arist\u00f3teles. En segundo lugar, con el arte del Renacimiento, cuando estas virtudes cl\u00e1sicas fueron redescubiertas despu\u00e9s de casi perderse durante la Edad Media en Europa tras la ca\u00edda del Imperio Romano.
