Many people consider the 1960s and 70s a time of experimentation. Artists were experimenting with new styles – op art, pop art, surrealism, minimalism – and recording artists were experimenting with new sounds. Album covers became a new canvas to explore. Fine artists, musicians, and album cover designers all strove to put a new spin on their respective works.
Monthly lectures examine art and artists that have influenced the world, from the great classics of Europe to the art of the Southwest, to the most exciting trends in modern and contemporary art. The Museum will also be open on those days, so bring the family, enjoy the Art Talk, and then wander the galleries!
Art Talks are $5 for non-members; free for TMA members and students with ID.

Revoluciones Por Minuto: Un Nuevo Giro en el Arte y la Música de los Años 1960 y 1970

Mucha gente considera las décadas de 1960 y 1970 como una época de experimentación. Los artistas experimentaron con nuevos estilos (arte óptico, arte pop, surrealismo, minimalismo) y los artistas discográficos experimentaron con nuevos sonidos. Las portadas de los álbumes se convirtieron en un nuevo lienzo para explorar. Artistas, músicos y diseñadores de portadas de álbumes se esforzaron por darle un nuevo giro a sus respectivos trabajos.
