TUCSON, ARIZONA (August 10, 2016) – The Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block (TMA) is launching a new weekend program starting September 11, 2016. Second SundAZe @ TMA presented by The Stonewall Foundation features free admission for Arizona and Sonora, Mexico residents every second Sunday of the month. In addition to free admission and gallery access, the Museum will host its popular family program Picture This! Art for Families, as well as present an array of activities such as: musical performances, a photo booth, no-host mimosa bar and community collaborations. Second SundAZe @ TMA is made possible by a grant from The Stonewall Foundation.
“With our largest gift to the Museum ever, The Stonewall Foundation is pleased to support access to arts and culture free of charge in our community at the Tucson Museum of Art,” said Rick Small, President and CEO, The Stonewall Foundation.
The Tucson Museum of Art and Historic Block is an art museum and educational institution located in the Presidio District of downtown Tucson, Arizona. TMA is committed to broadening public access to the arts and enriching daily life, which includes honoring Tucson’s unique blend of heritages and broad regional demographic. As the Museum prepares for its 95th anniversary, the vision for TMA is to support a fully bilingual platform, while promoting an inclusive environment that defies barriers and expands access.
“With the understanding that financial barriers do prevent families and guests from visiting the Museum, we are grateful to The Stonewall Foundation for their tremendous support of Second SundAZe @ TMA,” said Jeremy Mikolajczak, CEO, Tucson Museum of Art. “We have an outstanding arts education department and outreach program at the Museum. Second SundAZe @ TMA allows the Museum to expand support to our local community and offer a day-long cultural experience.”
Second SundAZe @ TMA brings back free admission to the Museum, a program that ended in 2014. The promotion is available for Arizona and Sonora, Mexico residents with valid identification. In addition to gallery tours and activities for families, the historic properties will be open for exploration and the Museum will offer Local @ TMA, a no-host pop up mimosa and beer garden. Also stop by the Museum’s award-winning café, Café ala Carte, for an artistically crafted bite based on traditional Southwest cuisine flavors.
