Tucson Museum of Art celebrates new Kasser Family Wing of Latin American Art with virtual TMA Gala 2021
January 26, 2021
Tucson, AZ – Tucson Museum of Art’s signature fundraiser will be a virtual event this year. The Tucson Museum of Art (TMA) Board of Trustees presents the 14th annual TMA Gala on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. with a 30-minute virtual soiree at 5:30 p.m. Ticket holders will receive dinner, wine and party favors to enjoy at home while watching a livestreamed program and participating in online premium and silent auctions.
“The annual TMA Gala provides essential support for the museum,” according to Jeremy Mikolajczak, Jon and Linda Ender Director and CEO. “Each year the Board of Trustees and the Tucson community come together to demonstrate through their generosity how much they value the experiences TMA provides. One night of celebration brings in support for education programs and community engagement throughout the year, and resources to exhibit and preserve the art collection held in trust for the public.”
“The combination of cultures in the desert southwest makes it a unique and special place to live. That is the inspiration for this year’s Gala theme,” says Marilyn Joyce, co-chair of the event. “The menu is inspired by flavors of Latin America, and the mix of performances in the virtual program will spotlight art, culture and community for an experience that highlights what makes our region extraordinary.”
TMA’s first virtual gala includes:
- Dinner by Café a la C’art paired with a bottle of wine. Food is prepared to heat and serve. Pick-up and delivery options are available.
- Premium and silent auctions, featuring over 90 works of art including a Tom Philabaum, fine jewelry including vintage sterling silver bracelets, exquisite wines and unique experiences. Premium auction lots include art by Cara Romero, Patricia Carr Morgan and Patrick Martinez, and an autographed Arizona 1997 NCAA Division Men’s Championship basketball.
- A livestreamed program highlighting art, music, dance and culture from throughout Latin America and the Sonoran Desert region.
- A virtual social soiree for conversation with other Gala guests.
Sponsors and ticket holders will have early access to the silent auction and premium auction beginning March 10, with a Buy-It-Now option. Both auctions will then open to the public on March 18, and will end on March 20 at 8:00 p.m.
The evening will also include a virtual paddle raise. All donations of $50 or more during the virtual Gala program will be entered to win an exclusive two-night stay at Bear Mountain Lodge in Silver City, NM. The winner will be announced live before the close of the program.
