Who We Are
Members of the Latin American Art Patrons (LAAP) share an interest in art created by individuals and groups from Mexico, Central America and South America from ancient times to today. We are dedicated to supporting and expanding the Museum’s Latin American Art programming of exhibitions, publications and educational presentations, while expanding our own knowledge and appreciation of these art forms. LAAP also provides funds for acquisitions to expand the Museum’s permanent collection, which encompasses art of the Ancient Americas, Colonial Latin American art, and contemporary works, as well as excellent examples of Folk art.
What We Do
Each year we host:
• Visits to private and public collections, including exhibitions of local artists
• Lectures with renowned speakers
• Trips to points of interest regionally, out-of-state or outside the country
• Private home tours and collector’s salons showcasing collections of Latin American art and design
Throughout the year, we strive to make these events opportunities for members to socialize and share their experiences traveling, meeting artists and collecting Latin American artwork. From parties with mariachi bands to excursions across the border, LAAP members know how to seek out opportunities to learn – and have fun!
