The New Westward: Planes, Trains, and Automobiles That Move the Modern West, an exhibition shown at the Tucson Museum of Art October 15, 2016- February 12, 2017 included a publication composed of five essays and a catalogue of images from the exhibition. Each essay discusses the art on display as well as significant themes of Manifest Destiny and Westward expansion, the role of trains in the West, airplanes and how they redefined Western expanses, the modern marvel of the automobile, the advent of intercontinental roadways, and tourism in the West.
