Second SundAZe: Virtual Family Day @TMA
Jim Waid, Synchroneity, 2005, acrylic on canvas. Collection of the Tucson Museum of Art. Gift in Honor of Robert J. Greenberg. 2007.1.3
It’s the second Sunday of the month, which means it’s virtual Family Day @TMA! Today’s activities focus on Jim Waid’s Synchroneity (2005). Try any or all of these activities:
Guided looking
Watch this video to do a guided looking exercise with Morgan Wells, TMA’s curator of education.
See it in person (if possible)
If you’re able to come to the museum, spend some time studying Waid’s painting. Seeing it in person – observing the scale, noticing brushstrokes and texture and seeing the glossy surface – can be a very different experience from looking at a small reproduction. This canvas is more than seven feet wide, with deep black organic forms that contrast with areas of vibrant color.
Admission to the museum is currently limited to 30% of the normal capacity and masks are required, so a museum visit is a good socially distanced outing for families or close friends.
If you’re not able to come to the museum right now, you can view this painting and the rest of TMA’s collection in a searchable online database.
